In the beginning of 1942 the Jewish refugee Committee of Helene Cazes-Benatar decided, in cooperation with the local government of Casablanca, to found three shelter camps for the Jewish refugees who were waiting for their visa. The Moroccan authorities didn’t want the refugees being free in Casablanca because their number had risen a lot (that is true), but to quarter them, under a light police surveillance, in the Casablanca suburbs, in three halls, Lunapark ball room(1), Parc Beaulieu Cinema and Cabaret (2) and Guinguette Fleurie dancing(3).
